Robert G. Boliek, Jr.'s, practice is devoted to appeals, assisting other lawyers with complex legal research and writing tasks at the trial level, and mediation. He brings to these efforts his experience as a law clerk with the Alabama Supreme Court, the lessons he learned in his early career as a civil litigator handling a broad range of tort, business, and employment cases, and the insights he later gained as a law school teacher of legal writing as well as other courses such as insurance law. Robert Boliek's litigation practice is limited to cases on appeal and to complex legal research and writing tasks at the trial level. He further limits his litigation practice to cases in which he is associated by or otherwise retained to assist lead counsel in a given case, and his goal is to provide the litigation team with persuasive legal arguments supported by thorough and accurate legal research--whether those arguments are made in an appellate brief or a critical trial-level motion. As a mediator, Robert Boliek is committed to facilitating communication between parties in the hope of achieving voluntary settlement based not only on the parties' mutual interests but also on each party's enlightened self-interest. He is registered on the Alabama State Court Mediator Roster and the Appellate Mediator Roster, serves on the A.D.R. Committee of the Birmingham Bar Association, is a pro bono mediator for the Jefferson County Court Mediation Project, and has taught introductory dispute resolution at the law school level. He has mediated disputes involving personal injuries, construction contracts, product warranties, landlord-tenant issues, and property taxes.
